What is it?

Cardiogen is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg) from the Khavinson class of short peptide bioregulators developed at the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It belongs to the same structural family as Epithalon and other short-chain bioregulators studied in Russian biogerontology literature.

The bioregulator model proposes that short peptide sequences of two to four amino acids can interact with specific regions of DNA in a tissue-selective manner, influencing transcription of genes involved in tissue maintenance and cellular homeostasis. In preclinical research, Cardiogen has been examined in the context of cardiomyocyte differentiation markers, extracellular matrix composition, and age-related change in cardiac gene expression.
